== Biography ==

Luc Morin was born on November 21, 1962, in Rouen.

He began his artistic training at the age of 14 in evening classes at the Rouen School of Fine Arts. He later became a student of the Japanese painter Isao Takahashi in Besançon. His pictorial practice is oriented toward a symbolic and spiritual expression, marked by the predominant use of the color blue, which he associates with inner peace and silence. He paints exclusively in oil on canvas.

Among his personal influences, Luc Morin cites his maternal grandfather, Michel Lamy, a former president of the Rouen Bar Association, who also worked as an illustrator for the former Journal de Rouen, the predecessor of Paris-Normandie. Signing his works with the pseudonym « Patt, » he left behind numerous drawings that are still on display at the Maison des avocats in Rouen. His father, a journalist for Paris-Normandie, was also active in the regional press.

Luc Morin also mentions the influence of his other grandfather, Jacques Morin, an amateur painter trained under Charles Fréchon, a leading figure in the Rouen School and close to Claude Monet.

== Artistic Career ==

One of his first exhibitions, « Les Sénomarins, » presented in 2006 in Rouen, attracted the attention of the local press. One of the works displayed in a restaurant window, « Sophie, » was the target of an attempted nighttime robbery. The daily newspaper « Paris-Normandie » devoted its front page to the event.

== Impressionist Ink ==

Luc Morin claims a close and memorial connection with Claude Monet and the Norman Impressionist heritage, particularly through his family ties to the village of Giverny.

As his uncle, Francois Lamy, was mayor of the town, members of his family are buried in the Giverny cemetery, a few meters from Claude Monet’s grave. The family home, still part of the heritage, is located about a hundred meters from the cemetery, in a natural setting that remains close to the landscape painted by the Impressionists.

Luc Morin also evokes childhood memories of his mother’s house, where she hosted the descendants of Charles Fréchon (1856–1929), a Post-Impressionist painter from Rouen and member of the Rouen School. They personally told him that their grandfather Charles Fréchon and Claude Monet were friends, a testimony passed down orally but still poorly documented in historical sources.

This family memory informs the creation of Monet, the Blue Man, a contemporary portrait of Claude Monet created in 2025. Painted in a palette of deep blues, the painting depicts Monet in a frontal, silent, and meditative posture. Far from the classical portrait, the work is intended as an interior, almost spiritual interpretation of the master of Giverny. It is part of a series exploring the links between artistic heritage, intimate landscape, and symbolic lineage.
